Downward Facing Dog

Set Up - from table posture – knees and feet hip distance – toes tucked – wrists 3 – 4 inches ahead of shoulders, outside of hands only as wide as shoulders

  • bend elbows slightly – bring elbows in behind wrists
  • pull shoulder blades down towards buttocks
  • engage chest muscles to wrap shoulder blades – engage rib muscles
  • inhale into collar bones
  • exhale pressing through palms, straighten legs - taking buttocks up and back
  • work breath into upper back, chest and along spine
  • get long from heal of hands to sit bones – tuck tail bone down

keep your brain and neck soft, arms long and breathe length and space into spine and arms - breathe through top back of heart to release neck

to come out bend knees and lower to ground rest in Childs pose or Embryo
