Aspen Yoga Studio - Intelligent Movement

There are 3 basic ways to increase and transform your energy in your yoga practice;

1) Breath

2) Sound and vibration and,

3) Movement

When you move in a yoga posture and from one posture to the next in a series of postures you do so by listening to and moving with your breath.  Your breath determines how quickly and deeply you move into a posture.  Your breath determines your bodies boundaries.

Your strength moves come on your exhalation.

So, you are in a posture breathing deeply.  You engage the muscles very subtly on exhalation to hold your bones and joints in their proper place.  But, you don't engage so much that you shut down the energy flow or your breath.

You feel strong and grounded, no struggle and your neck is relaxed.

On your exhale with abs subtly drawn in  you move from one posture to the next or if your body is telling you to hold longer or go deeper you go deeper into the posture.

Here's the how and why of long posture holds
