Aspen Yoga Studio - Intensive Q & A
Q: What is Yoga As A Healing Practice (Forrest Yoga) and how is it different from
other Yoga styles?
Forrest Yoga was designed by Ana Forrest, a modern day Yoga pioneer and teacher for over 40
years. She designed it specifically address the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual stresses
and challenges of modern society.
Forrest Yoga first gets you into your body with deep breathing, connects you to your Core with an abdominal
series, then moves into the focus of the day - standing postures, strength, inversions, backbends, etc.
To feel, heal or bring an area of your body more fully alive you must breathe into it. Postures are
adjusted so your breath deepens, lines of energy connects and so that you stay out of struggle.
There is no set sequencing or memorized movements. Challenging sequencing with long posture
holds are designed to bring you alive and melt away old patterning.
Q: Who is the intensive for?
I've designed this specifically for all levels of students and teachers who are ready to "GO DEEPER"
in their practice and experience Yoga in a unique, inspiring and empowering way.
Each of us has unique challenges both physical and emotional - while you may be able to work in one
posture easily, other postures may be outside of your comfort zone. You will be given modifications
so you can work postures in a struggle free manner.
Q: I have never done Forrest Yoga before . . . can I still take the
intensive?
Absolutely. My teaching style is one which I give complete,
clear and specific instructions for each posture and breathing exercise. So you will be able to easily
follow along.
Q: I'm a brand new beginner, can I do this?
In one word . . . no. It's not appropriate for a new beginner or someone who has never done yoga
before regardless of your fitness level. The Healing Yoga Basics Open
Classes are more appropriate for beginners.
Q: I'm not injured or in pain, can I get anything out of this?
Absolutely. You'll learn to go deeper in your practice and on your journey and use
yoga as a means for wholeness and balance . . . for life!
Q: Will all the classes be the same?
No, each class is unique in its postures, sequencing and purpose! There are many different postures,
sequences and different ways to work in each posture.
Q: Is the room heated?
Yes, I like the room heated to around 80 degrees so that you are comfortably warm and not chilled. The
breathing, long posture holds and movement will help get you soaking wet!
If you don't like heat deep Ujjayia breathing will bring your awareness deeper inside and heat you from the
inside out - so the room heat won't bother you!
The intensive will help raise your energy levels so that you will grow to enjoy a comfortably heated room
and more "Merciful Yoga".
