Aspen Yoga Studio - Warm Up
After energy work and breathing exercises, warm up postures and
movements unlock and free the shoulder and hips from the spine and turn on the upper back and chest
muscles.
If you warm up first and do abdominal exercise early enough
in your practice your core will be conscious and aware. This helps to keep you pain,
struggle and injury - free.
In each warm up posture you are working the Ujjayia breath
deeply, using the breath to create space from inside.
The first stage is relaxing the brain and muscle so your
bones become your structure. Then with your breath your tendons, muscles and ligaments will find their
natural length out around the bones. This opens you up.
Next, as you exhale, you begin to subtly engage your
muscles, drawing the muscles to the bones to hold the bones and joints in their proper place. This creates heat and
flowing circuits and lines of energy.
